What do you like about blogging?

By blogging, I can express my thoughts,ideas,opinions and more! I can do anything that I wanted before. It really helps me a lot. In term of, communicating, writing, and socializing.

What you do not like about blogging?

I have to spend my time and think deeply about anything that I want to write in my blog. If I don’t have anything to do, it’s ok to me but there are lots of things that we have to finish.

What have you gained from blogging e.g. Language skills, improved fluency, critical thinking, improved thought processes, technology skills etc. How?

In term of, communicating, writing, and socializing, I can say that I have improve a lot than before. My fluency, critical thinking, improved thought processes, skills in technology also improving day by day. Through blog, I have to think critically when I want to post something to my dashboard. Blogging really helps me to improve my skills, for example, by writing; it can improve my writing skills as well as my language skills. I will know some of the grammatical errors that I did. Besides, to write anything, I need to stimulate my critical thinking by coming out with some ideas. Through blogging, I can organize my ideas and thoughts rather than letting my mind be cluttered and messy. It's a good thing to put down what you want to say in writing. As we look back to what we have written over the semester, we can see how much we learned and progressed. One context that is evident is the evidence of critical thinking. It makes me open my mind on what I think and how should perceive matters.

How to change the font, etc. What do you like about this course?

What do I like about it? I have learn many things about technology, especially how to find and explore about technological resources. This course provided us with 5 modules. Each module consist of skills that I always wanted to learn before. Photoshop for instance, I love editing pictures but I don't know how to. With the helps from the modules, I have made it! And know, I can edit any picture that I wanted to. For example, by doing the modules, I have learn on how to download some softwares, such as any video converter used to convert the files in the video, to cut the video, to do some snapshot from the video etc. Besides, I have also learn on how to search the web, how to convert the files into words, pdf etc. to conclude, many things I’ve learnt actually. What I like is that I can really explore many avenues for resources, such as videos, and various publications that I can use in the future. Then, there's many opportunities where I can use the computer in the lab freely without restrictions.

What you do not like about this course?

In order to finish all the modules, I have to spend many days to finish it. Thus, I have done many works, to printscreen, follow all the steps, and to print the same thing. Besides, the tasks given also require lot of time to do. Frankly speaking, there are lots of things that we need to do for other subjects too.

What have you learnt from this course?

That there are many more resources to do teaching aids rather than just flashcards, flashcards and flashcards. There's video editing and audio editing which I don't usually do, but gave me opportunities to explore them more nevertheless.I have learned many things especially something related to technology. Everything is about technology and in order to find some resources also requires the use of technology. This course also helps me in my technology skills. Although I am used to internet, but there are lots of things that I didn't discover before. Thanks to this course, I am now ready to use the internet. Again.

What have you learnt from this course that you did not expect to?

Everything that I have learned in this course is the things that I’ve never expected from the very beginning. Such as audio editting, video editing, E-book etc. All those things are related to resources in technology. I did not expect that this course is actually a guideline for a future teacher like me to create the teaching aids for the Lesson Plan. I did not expect that I can use the modules and apply it into my teaching practices.

What have u expected but do not learn from this course?

No, I did not expect anything before, Anything that was expected, I’ve already learnt in this course.

Internet and computing skills

What do you like about this module?

I have learn many things about technology, especially how to find, explore and apply the technological resources.

What do you not like about this module?

It was really annoying when the steps inside the modules are not clear enough. Plus, to download certain softwares, the size is too big. So I have to wait, wait and wait until it finish downloaded.

What do you like about the task given for this module?

The task really helps me to find some documents and information from the internet.

What do you not like about the task given for this module?

Nothing.

What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

I have learned on how to search related documents from the internet. It really enhanced my internet skills( technology skills)

How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

Yes, I can find some documents from the internet and use it as my teaching aids. Besides, I have learnt some computing skills which it really helps to enhance my skills to use computer.

Photo Editing

What do you like about this module?

I know how to edit the photo, to make the photos more interesting thus, knows about many softwares for photo editing. I can now confidently use the Photoshop software to edit any pictures that I wanted to.

What do you not like about this module?

Nothing that I don’t like about this module. Everything seems to be fine.

What do you like about the task given for this module?

For the task in this module, I managed to finish the task before the due date shows that I really like to do this task. I love to edit the pictures actually

What do you not like about the task given for this module?

Time. Photo editing is fun but it is now an easy task to do. As we editing a photo, we have to be very careful. If we want to edit into something beautiful, we need lots of time. As we are rushing to do our job, editing the photos become something that lead to stressful. Because, we want something that is extraordinary and yet we have to catch up the due date given.

What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

Be patient. Because, editing the pictures become more interesting is not the easy thing to do. It requires lot of time.

How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

Yes, I can choose some pictures that can be used as my teaching aids, then if the pictures not clear for example, I can edit that pictures and make it more interesting.

Audio Editing Skills

What do you like about this module?

I know how to edit the audio , cut the song and do many things with the audio. This module had taught me many important skills on editing audio files for example how to make minus one.

What do you not like about this module?

It requires lot of time. For example, if we want to increase and decrease the sound of the audio,we need to hear the sound from the very beginning, identify which part that we want to edit.

What do you like about the task given for this module?

I can combine the songs, learn on how to do a ringtone and edit the audio by identifying which past that should be edited. Well the tasks give me an opportunity to practice the skills that I had learnt from the module.

What do you not like about the task given for this module?

For the task 3, some part is quite difficult to identify and it was quite difficult to remove the noise, I can only decrease the noise and cut the audio a little bit, so that that audio will run smoothly.

What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

Skills on how to use audacity software, and know some function in this software. Thus, I have learn many things about audio editing. I had learnt how remove background noise, how to crop audio, how to make minus one and how to add in background music into an audio clip.

How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

Well I had learnt how to create my own audio files for my classroom. For example, I can make an audio book and make it more interesting by adding in sound effects and many more. These can enhance the teaching and learning process. I can use my skills on how to edit audio, maybe I can choose any song especially children song, edit that song and use it in class especially with children. Example, I can make the song as a minus one.

Video Editing Skills

What do you like about this module?

I’ve learn something on how to edit the audio, know many software that can be used to edit the video such as windows movie maker, any video converter, etc. Plus, the module has taught me about video editing skills such as import sound clip to video and split and crop parts of the video.

What do you not like about this module?

This module really helps me a lot in producing with my own video for example. So how should I answer this question? =)

What do you like about the task given for this module?

The tasks given required me to extract the pictures , the audio and it really help me by giving new knowledge about video editing. It is quite interesting as I’m able to create my own video.

What do you not like about the task given for this module?

Everything is fine. =)

What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

I learn on how to extract the pictures, audio from the video and it really helps to enhance my skill in editing the video and make it to become more interesting. Video editing skill such as how to extract pictures and audio from the video by using window movie maker.

How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

I can pick any video that suitable with the topic, extract the pictures as well as the audio and use it as my teaching aids. Moreover, I had learnt how to create my own video for my classroom. For example, I can make a video about food by using windows movie maker. By creating my own video, the video will be more interesting, meaningful and most importantly suitable for Malaysian' pupils.

What do you like about this module?

I can create my own video that is suitable with KBSR syllabus as well as suitable with my students’ level.

What do you not like about this module?

Some software make me confuse on how to use it and require lots of time to explore.

What do you like about the task given for this module?

I can explore many things about software, learn about something new

What do you not like about the task given for this module?

The tasks given was quite confusing and we have to be more creative in order to come out with a piece of good work.

What are the specific skills that you learn in this module?

I’ve learning some searching skills as well as thinking skills on how to be more creative.

How the skills learnt in this module can help in the making and choosing of teaching aids for the ELT classroom?

Yes, I can come out with many things once I master doing all these and know how to use many interesting things. For example, I will come out with a poster so that it can be used to promote something or can be used during teaching and learning session.

If you can change anything about this course, state what is and elaborate?

Perhaps, we should have limitation for each module. I mean, for every module, we should only been introduce with 5 software most. It is more than enough if we can concentrate towards these 5 softwares rather than we jog in learning hundreds of softwares. Basis is the most important thing that we should always take into our consideration. =)

Week 14

~~The Last Lecture~~

14 weeks gone in one blink..yeah,, the last week of lecture.. Pbey3102 Developing Resources For ESL Primary Classroom.. This class is such a fun and useful and it really teaches us to be the teacher that has good technology skills!

There's a wonder in Microsoft. The wonder that's called 'Publisher'. Well, actually we have to come up with different publications that can be used in the classroom. There are flyers, business cards, banners and calendars.

There are of course a few ideas that I can come up with when using the publications in the classroom. Calendars can be used to remind pupils of the due dates and exams (which is a bad thing for them). Banners can be made to tell the parents of special events. Business cards on the other hand, can be used to promote our workshop program (healthy living) in school in the future (yes!!).

But I feel that being required to do all the publications is a bit over. I mean, it's not that we want to use all the publications right. So, it would be necessary to do all the works which add(ed) up to our endless works.

That's all then.

As the time goes by, I hope that I can apply all the knowledge that I have learn from our beloved lecturer into my teaching afterwards.

Assalamualaikum and hi to all!!! (^_^) I am back! In the recent Resources class, I've been exposed to video editing.

About Module 4, as I go through, I notice that this module is very helpful for me to know more on how to use the software like:

We have been presented with a few videos; some were downloaded from the You Tube, some were meant for commercials and some were done by the previous cohort. What I can say, all of the videos were simply MARVELLOUS! Great songs, nice still pictures and recorded videos have been chosen hence allowing us, the audience to comprehend the message that each of the video intended to convey. Good work!

Message delivered! Mission accomplished!

Week 12

E-BOOKS

This week Pn Foziah showed some examples of e-books to us.Why she is showing us some samples of e-books is to help us to get a clearer ideas on how to make an e-book as it can interesting and attractive as well can engage learning in a fun and meaningful way. She also gives us some tutorials on module 2 (photo editing).Then,checking the eBook that we have done.

For e-book, there must be:

1) A theme to the story.

2) Setting (time and place)

3) Plot that shows the conflict, climax and resolution

4) Characterization

5) Navigational tools to make sure the slides can work properly (can go to next slide and previous slide)

6) Pictures must be clear cut and colourful, no different shades or shadows.

7) Sound to accompany the e-book reading.

Today, we will be talking about E-book. What is an E-book? E = electronic, so it's a digital book where one does not flip the pages to read something, but scrolling up and down like a laptop. Somehow, it was not that hard to come up with an e-book. Everyone can do one by using PowerPoint. Of course, the E-book that we did lacked content and proper materials for young readers.

Somehow, I feel that an E-book can never replace the authenticity of reading a real book. Just imagine the rough texture of the pages, the smell that's like bringing back memories and the fondness of sitting down somewhere just to read. With an e-book, it brings to my mind the sense of rush, doing many things at once and no sense of peace that a real book brings.

The only country as far as I know where the people read E-book diligently would be Japan. Even when we're talking about Japan, it already brings to mind of busy-ness.

Still, I expect e-book to be the future of reading. Which brings to my mind another issue: Malaysians read about 3 books (or 3 pages) per year. I think Malaysians prefer PSP and Nintendo Ds rather than E-book. Nobody wants to be seen as nerdy reading e book in the LRT, right?

Week 11

This week was the continuation of the previous week task. Puan Foziah did ask us to put our name in the pictures edited. This was meant to avoid our picture to be exploited and manipulated by others. By having the name in the picture, it could be the acknowledgment of our job.

Puan Foziah did show us some pictures that had been edited by using adobe photoshop cs3 and amazingly, there's a lot of creative and alternative ways of editing the picture. There are lots of features that I need to learn in Adobe Photoshope CS3, so that I would be able to edit pictures well.


She reminded us to upload the edited picture in the photobucket where the account had been set up and we need to upload it before the deadline. I think I want to continue edit the picture. Till see you again next week.

Week 10

This has became our 10th week of studying for this semester. For this week, we were given three hours to complete our second module. This time around, the module was about picture editing. There was task given to us. We need to edit a picture by using the Adobe Photoshop CS3. The picture above was already edited using CS3 using "Grain Effect".

Editing pictures is fun because, once we have made it, we will feel satisfied and the satisfaction will be greater if the pictures become something that totally different from the original picture. =)

Using CS3 will give us ideas as future teacher to use it when it comes towards teaching and learning session.
